The Vision
When we go and visit friends in another state they make time for lunch, or an event, etc.. However; like most, they have work obligations to get to and that's just how it goes. When friends come and visit us up here in Alaska, that's a different story! We like to combine work with play! We block off an entire week and fill it front to back with as many adventures and outings as we can feasibly fit in or as many as you desire. That's what we hope to create for this business. We want you to experience this area the way that our friends do, and in the process become your friends too! We have land use permits all over the Tongass National Forest so we will be able to go ashore almost anywhere we please. We can go for a hike on another island, see whales on the way, and then afterwards have a bbq on the beach while you cast for salmon.
*We have a 28' twin inboard jet Weldcraft with a bathroom and heated cabin. Perfect for beach landings (we have a ladder off the bow), fishing, and running up shallow rivers.
*Groups up to 6, with a 2 person minimum.
*Fishing gear, tackle, and bait will be provided by us. You will just need to get a fishing license from the Scandia House hotel downtown or at the local hardware store, Hammer & Wikan.
*Southeast Alaska can have beautiful bluebird days, but since we do live in a temperate rainforest, we are always
prepared for rain! So bring some light rain gear, boots, sun glasses, hiking gear, and of course your fly rod if you like.
*Zach's a big coffee guy so the boat will always be stocked with plenty of it. We will have soft drinks to your preference and snacks. Depending on what we choose to do each day, we will bring lunch and/or the goods to cook a lunch out there.
*Lodging/accommodations will be arranged by us if you choose to do a multi-day package.
Captain and Crew
Zach...
is a 4th generation Petersburg kid who grew up in a commercial fishing family. His dad got him his first little Jon boat when he was 8 and the exploring and learning hasn't stopped since. His mother got many calls from a young Zach informing her he wouldn't be home until dark as he was stuck on a mudflat and had to wait until the tide came in. Thinking an office job could be cool, he got an engineering degree, all the while knowing he would end up back in Alaska and never use it. So here he is, with a childlike love of the outdoors, extensive knowledge of the area, a fancy 100T license, and a big ol' smile on his face ready to share his beautiful hometown and its special area with you!
Maura...
was born and raised in Southeast Alaska. Originally from Ketchikan, but moved to Petersburg halfway through high school. She grew up going to the cabin with her dad, hiking with her mom, and building forts in the forest with friends. With her dad being a marine biologist, he always told her, "There is something of a new discovery in every fish we see, no matter how many times we see them." She definitely took that to heart because she has a love for spotting and identifying all the flora and fauna she can find! She can’t wait to share her love and curiosity for all the new discoveries with you all!
